Description

To commemorate Her Majesty’s 80th year the Royal Mint struck a five pound coin in crown size. Although it did not enter circulation, it was widely available from Banks and Post Offices. They also struck a limited edition of this coin in solid sterling silver, and in Proof quality – the highest quality possible.

The design features three ceremonial trumpets with banners being held aloft as a salute to Her Majesty along with the legend “1926 – VIVAT REGINA – 2006” (1926 – ‘Long live the Queen!’ – 2006). The edge is not milled but is smooth and is inscribed with the three words DUTY, SERVICE, FAITH
