This coin for 2018 features a helpful little mouse from The Tailor of Gloucester.
The Tailor of Gloucester was written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter and privately printed her in 1902. The story is about a tailor whose work on a waistcoat is finished by the grateful mice he rescues from his cat and was based on a real-world incident involving a tailor and his assistants. For years, Potter declared that of all her books this was her personal favourite
This sterling silver coin with proof finish is realistically captured with colour printing; the design, an iconic image from the book, is of one of the helpful mice sitting cross-legged on a reel of ‘twist’, complete with spectacles and a newspaper. Part of a limited-edition presentation of just 30,000, each coin comes in a clear acrylic presentation case with a booklet and certificate of authenticity.
