King Charles III and Queen Camilla have been married for 18 years.

The couple were married in a civil ceremony at Guildhall, Windsor on 9th April 2005. Her engagement ring belonged to Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, and throughout these years, Her Majesty has become Patron or President of over 100 charities!

The Queen loves to read.

Her Majesty has a great love for books, her favourite of all time being ‘Pride and Prejudice’, and launched a platform during lockdown called ‘The Reading Room’ which brought people together by discovering new books and meeting authors. It was relaunched as a charity this year and renamed ‘The Queen’s Reading Room’.

She also loves to dance.

In order to keep fit, Her Majesty takes Silver Swan ballet classes. She is also a huge fan of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and has had opportunities in the past to dance with judges Len Goodman and Craig Revel-Horwood.

In fact, Camilla has various hobbies.

Her Majesty has a strong passion for gardening, and even produces her own honey at her home in Wiltshire, which is then sold at Fortnum & Mason to raise money for charity.

The Queen’s 75th birthday was one to treasure.

In the run up to her 75th birthday, Queen Camilla made her Vogue debut in June 2022. Her 75th birthday edition of Country Life was also labelled the best-selling of all time.

She has personal links to the military.

Camilla’s father, Major Bruce Shand, has connections to various military organisations which she has links to, and her father was even awarded two military crosses. The Queen has also attended many occasions with veterans, serving soldiers and officers of the 9th/12th Lancers.

The Queen launched the ‘Wash Bag’ initiative.

Queen Camilla began a ‘Wash Bag’ initiative in 2023, which provided Sexual Assault Referral Centres (or SARCs) with wash bags that contained toiletries to be given to those who are referred to these centres. In 2021, she also became Patron of Nigeria’s first sexual assault referral centre.

Her Majesty has a limited choice of jewellery.

The Queen has access to a wide range of beautiful and historic royal jewellery. However, she doesn’t actually have her ears pierced, so therefore opts to wear clip-on earrings instead.
